#pijamadancepractice
Latvian choreographer, Dancer and Professor, Head of Contemporary Dance Art Programme at the Latvian Academy of Culture Olga Zitluhina and her #pijamadancepractice
Performative dance practice on social media. Launched during the pandemic on March 23, 2020 to keep oneself in both physical and creative shape, and still going on – every day without holidays. For choreographer Olga Zitluhina, it is also an opportunity to learn to communicate with the world and herself through the screen, to search for and find ways to teach “live” dance remotely, on the screen. The idea, like everything in Olga’s life, came from the all-encompassing feeling – “I want to dance” or “I can’t help but dance”. Dance as a lifelong practice, not work.
#pijamadancepractice is an artistic and somatic research practice developed by Latvian choreographer and Professor, Head of Contemporary Dance Art Programme, Latvian Academy of Culture, Olga Zitluhina. It explores the relationship between body, space, and presence through gentle movement, improvisation, and attention — often starting the day in a state of softness, still in pajamas.
This practice invites dancers, artists, and anyone interested in embodied awareness to reconnect with their body without pressure, performance, or judgment.
Born during everyday mornings, #pijamadancepractice has grown into a method of tuning into yourself, moving with what is, and staying open to the poetry of the present moment.
